Blackland prairie, built low and built to last.
The owners had one hard rule: the oak stays. We shifted the footprint eleven feet north and hand-dug within the drip line to protect the root plate. That tree now anchors the entry court.
Everything from there followed the land. Deep eaves for west sun, a breezeway that pulls prairie wind through the house in shoulder season, and native limestone quarried less than ninety miles away.
Interior finishes stay warm and quiet — plaster walls, rift-sawn oak floors, unlacquered brass that's meant to patina.
